iBuild is a web-based tool – several years into development – designed to enable anyone with a concept for a web or a mobile application to build it without the need for a professional developer(s) in the initial stages of any project. Target users of this tool include start-ups, small businesses, and non-technical entrepreneurs and web-creators. iBuild facilitates a community-driven development environment that would dramatically cut the time and cost required to produce an initial prototype. The resulting Web application is robust, usable as the basis for further development.
As iBuild matures as a tool and as a community, it will be able to build increasingly large portions of the web/mobile applications, providing reusable, pluggable components, making the process of building fully fledged applications – of high code quality – increasingly simple. Professional developers may also use iBuild to cut the development time, share or sell their code to others, and help others in the iBuild community with their projects.
